Time flies is the idiom. It means time passes quickly. People often say time flies when you're having fun.

tempus fugit . . . . Latin! no one's a native! Well I guess you could count Italians.

Well, as nobody has responded so far, will you allow me (a native speaker!) to have a go? - clocks have hands. - angels have wings. When talking of pianist playing beautifully, you could say: "She has the hands of an angel! - I could listen to her for hours..." 😉

Time flies. We can catch butterflies, birds, even elephants, whales or on the other side of the scale even the tiny electrons or the ineffable neutrinos. No human being will ever make a net so powerful to catch time. Not even AI will do the job.
