A question to teachers and students: do you like textbooks in your classes? If no, which materials do you prefer?

I go with the flow! I love a good textbook - makes life easy. On the other hand I also love just googling interesting photos/articles/videos and then using whatever I find as inspiration! I teach quite a few young children and with them I usually do maths or science (as they are in international schools and speak English well). So I usually have a chat with parents and we agree a plan of action!

I guess it depends what kind of class it is. I'm not a bookworm - quite the opposite - I'm usually mainly interested in correct pronunciation, so the key material for me, is teacher's voice - listening to them speaking clearly, with plenty of repetition. But sometimes I like a class focused on a book, only if it is a language with a very special book.

It depends, there are some awesome books but sadly are hella expensive and public education cannot afford such expenses. So, in my reality using tons of different activities involving a projector and speaker works out a lot. I guess the social practice of the language works out for my English classes. :)

Personally I like a healthy balance of using a textbook and authentic materials/natural conversation :)

Actually it depends on personel needs. For example, I need to practice for speaking skills? What do you think about that ?
