Difference between weird, strange, odd, awkward Do they have the same meaning? When do I use them? And which one do you use most?

Let's go the beach. See that WEIRD guy. He's acting like he's from outer space. Yeah, he's speaking some STRANGE language. I don't recognize it. That's ODD. I usually carry at least $20 in my purse. This is AWKWARD and embarrassing, but can I borrow some money from you? weird = very strange strange = not familiar to you, unusual odd = out of the ordinary awkward = Uncomfortable and possibly embarrassing situation, e.g., when both your girlfriends come over at the same time and they weren't aware of the other before.

From strongest to weakest, they are: Weird - strange in a negative way, in a way that makes you feel uneasy. Strange - can mean weird, but more noticeable, making you look again. It is not as negative as weird, but still negative to a degree. Odd - a weaker form of strange and weird - something that is not normal and is noticeable, but not in as strong or shocking a way as the first two. Awkward - odd, but also embarrassing. It is usually used in a situation where something odd and embarrassing has happened and nobody wants to be the first one to say so.
