You are trying to memorise the Arabic alphabet which is the problem. Stop trying to get it to stick and start reading sentences even if you can't read sentences yet because you need to see the letters in context rather than on their own. Letters change depending on the position of the word they are in. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabic_alphabet When you come across a word, try to sound it out. If you can't remember a letter, just refer back to the list. One of the first words I learned to read was halal حلال because I kept seeing it outside restaurants so constant exposure is important. ح changes to حـ because it is the initial letter. Then you have lam ـلـ in its middle form and alif crossing over with lam commonly seen in the word no: la لا and finally ending in lam again. You will just need to keep reading. The Quran vowels words but modern texts do not. As you vocabulary expands you will intuit where most of the short vowel sounds go, so don’t worry too much about it. You could also plug words into Google Translate and click “listen” to get a rough idea how each word is supposed to sound.
