Hello! I'm Umiema from Sudan. I have excellent communication skills and enjoy teaching students of all ages and cultural backgrounds. I've taught young learners, IELTS and all levels of ESL both face-to-face and online. My approach to teaching is to make it fun and interactive so that students find learning enjoyable and are motivated to continue their English language journey and improve through consistency and practice. My teaching style is influenced by my student's age, desires and deadlines. I offer lessons aiding students with homework, give tutoring, conversation practice speech coaching lessons on culture, travel and many other common and niche topics. Over time I analyze how students respond to different methods of learning and incorporate more of their preferred methods into lessons. I pack lessons grammar, speaking, listening, reading and writing exercises and games, also giving students additional work. Tracking progress is vital therefore if requested, I will test students bi-weekly or monthly depending on their needs and feedback in given.我的教材

6-month Teacher-training program - ELICOS Language Centre - 2018The aim of the course was to get new teaching hands on experience teaching by shadowing the director of studies and experienced teaching in and out of the classroom. We were to observe and implement the teaching methods we learned on a daily basis with feedback from the director. During this time I learned skills such as lesson planning, warm up, teaching grammar, teaching conversational skills,creating tests, keeping track of students progress through testing and providing feedback to students.

TeacherThis was my first teaching job where I was picked to train as a teacher for 6 months with continued teaching. I learned to lesson plan, manage classes, give feedback and keep record of students progress.
2019 - 2020
English TeacherI work as one of few teachers in the English department in the college. Different to my previous teaching position, I had more responsibilities such as orientations for newly hired teachers, assistance in syllabus creation for adults and young learners, teaching IELTS preparation and teaching university students academic English and English for business.
2020 - 2022
Online English teacherThis Position taught me how to nativigate online classes using virtual platforms. I taught students in over 5 countries and continue to do so currently. The approaching to teaching online is quite different to face-to-face classes and I've learnt to keep students engaged, educated and consistent online.
