I'm Verena, 30 years old and I'm a German teacher from Austria. I'm currently living in Austria, but I have also lived in France, Bosnia&Hercegovina and New Zealand. I'm new-ish to italki but I've been teaching German as a foreign language full time since finishing my Master's in 2020. One of the reasons why I became a teacher is that I love learning languages myself. I speak English, French, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and I'm currently leaching myself a bit of Italian. This is why I'm perfectly able to relate to any struggles you might have and give you the best learning advice. Besides languages, I love nature, travelling, yoga, dancing, literature, arts, outdoor activities, food & cats!

I’ve completed around 60 lessons (60 minutes each) with Verena, and she’s truly the best teacher I’ve worked with… and I’ve tried many! Verena is exceptionally knowledgeable. She doesn’t just know the language; she understands why things work the way they do, what needs to be explained and how to explain it in a way that fits the student’s level. She is patient and fully adapts to your rhythm, creating a learning environment that feels both supportive and motivating. Lessons are always engaging: she is fun, genuinely interested, and intellectually stimulating. What many teachers claim but few truly do is adapt to the learner’s needs, and this is where Verena really STANDS OUT. She actively looks for, or even creates, exercises tailored specifically to what you need to work on, ensuring MEANINGFUL progress. I’m so happy I chose Verena to study German. She’s incredibly friendly, open, and easy to communicate with. She always checks whether everything is clear, and if something isn’t, she supports me with extra materials and explanations. She’s also genuinely encouraging. Speaking German is not easy for me as I’m a perfectionist but with Verena I never feel embarrassed.
