Hello, I’m Bruce—an experienced American Sign Language (ASL) educator with over three decades of teaching, including at the college level. As a hard-of-hearing professional and former certified interpreter, I offer a unique blend of linguistic expertise and cultural insight. My approach ensures students develop fluency for academic, professional, and everyday communication. I was a college instructor in the Atlanta, Georgia area for nearly 30 years. I taught beginning, intermediate, and advanced level ASL courses as well as a variety of interpreting courses. I have also taught English to Deaf students as well as students who can hear.我的課程內容與教學風格
I like to give sufficient background information to allow students to come to their own conclusions. The method that I prefer is to teach only in the target language (ASL). I always reserve time at the end of lessons to clarify misunderstandings, answer questions, etc. in English.我的教材

Bruce did a great job of quickly figuring out exactly the level I needed us to sign at and sticking with signing the entire time! I felt super confident signing with him but also stretched in my abilities just enough that I feel like I leveled up a ton during the lesson. Great teacher if you want someone who will challenge you but not intimidate you!

It was my first lesson back with Bruce after a couple months break, and wanted to leave another review getting back into it. Bruce is still awesome, and I especially appreciated his help with making my sentences more expressive!
I've learned quite a few signs at this point but haven't gotten great at making my sentences ASL-structured vs English-structured, and Bruce helped a lot with that. There's a ton of stuff I learn every one of these classes and Bruce always has new signs and new tips for me, but it's done in a super chill way that feels like a conversation with a friend.
Highly recommend Bruce for anyone interested in ASL! I'm trying to think of what type of student would most enjoy his classes, but I honestly feel like he's just a great overall teacher for almost anyone haha
