Hello, I’m Makiko, a native Japanese tutor from Japan.
I offer beginner-focused Japanese lessons, with a strong emphasis on speaking and communication.
Many learners understand Japanese but feel nervous about speaking.
In my lessons, you don’t need to be perfect.
We practice using Japanese step by step, so you can build confidence naturally.

As a Japanese tutor, I focus on guiding learners
from understanding Japanese to actually speaking it, step by step.
Many beginners feel nervous about making mistakes.
In my lessons, communication matters more than perfection.
We practice using Japanese little by little, in a calm and supportive space.

正しさよりも 伝えようとする気持ち を大切にし、

🌿Lessons are one-on-one and speaking-focused.
We practice using Japanese step by step, in a calm and supportive atmosphere.
Rather than memorizing rules, we focus on how Japanese is used in real communication.
Mistakes are welcome, and we move at your pace.
Each lesson includes simple output practice, gentle correction, and clear guidance,
so you can feel progress little by little and gain confidence naturally.
レッスンはマンツーマン・スピーキング中心です。
落ち着いた雰囲気の中で、少しずつ日本語を使う練習をします。
暗記よりも、実際にどう使うかを大切にし、
間違いを恐れず、自分のペースで進めていきます。
毎回のレッスンで、
アウトプット練習とやさしいフィードバックを通して、

Leaving for holiday in Japan in a couple days and thanks to Maki-san I am prepared to communicate in everyday situations! After a dozen lessons I think I will be able to confidently shop, order food and ask directions in Japanese! Thank you Maki-san and let's continue my studies in December. :)

Another great lesson with Maki-san! Each time we learn some new vocabulary and grammar and practice speaking. The atmosphere is always fun and relaxed, Maki-san is a patient teacher. Reviewing and self-study is very important though if you really want to move forward with your Japanese, so I've also taken up some homework from Maki-san as well. Sometimes I make a few sentences using the grammar we learned in the previous lesson, or I learn couple dozen new words which Maki-san quizzes me on the next time we meet. This has worked very well for me. Thank you very much and let's continue! 🤩
