Hello! My name is Kimmi and I enjoy studying and teaching language. I love to study and languages is my topic of choice. You can always find me with a book in hand or my nose to my phone reading the latest linguistic news out there. I am fluent in English and American Sign Language. I am a CODA [child of a Deaf adult], so I grew up using ASL in my day to day conversations. While languages can be challenging, I think that exercising your mind is one of the best ways to better yourself and the world around you. The better you learn to communicate, the more people you can meet. Language enriches our lives in many ways and branching out our social circles is just one gift that language gives us.我的教學經歷
I graduated from a four year program with an A.A.S in Deaf Studies. I tutored students at my college but I had been a tutor before that in my community. I have taught at my local E.L.K.S lodge and I have worked in an elementary school in Deaf classrooms. When I take on new students, I do like to take the first lesson with them to get to know them and ask them questions about their desire to learn sign language. This gives me the ability to figure out the best way to cater to each student individually. Having worked with children as well as adults, I am able to teach beginners as well as work with those who have more advanced skill. 我的課程內容與教學風格
My lessons are dependent upon each student. For students who are taking a class, I am able to help explain things that they are having trouble understanding in class and can help practice for presentations. For those who are self studying, I am able to help come up with a guide for that student to follow with me to better their vocabulary, grammar, and conversational skill. I also like to include information about Deaf culture in my lessons as I feel that understanding the culture is imperative to understanding the language.我的教材

I had always been interested in learning ASL but I had never taken a class before. After seeing Kimmi's profile, I decided to book a class with her. We jumped right in from the very first class and by the end of the class, I had learned a ton. I learned so much and enjoyed the class so much that I purchased a package of 20 classes. Kimmi's demeanor is great and she's a very effective teacher. I'm so excited to keep learning with Kimmi and highly recommend her!

Kimmi is absolutely amazing! She blew me away! I felt so comfortable and enjoyed the class so much that I booked my next one as soon as our session ended lol. She’s extremely knowledgeable and took her time explaining everything. She even had a whole lesson plan for me! I have so much confidence now in my journey to becoming fluent in ASL. My favorite part about this teacher is her patience and ability to help me whether I'm signing and talking or fully voice off. It's good practice and I enjoy the chats we have before reviewing each lesson because ASL is such a contextual and social language; I find that it helps me get better and restrengthen my skills faster

My intro class with Kimmi was awesome! I really enjoyed getting to talk to her and see how wholistic her style of teaching is. As a former professor, I really dig structured learning and I LOVE that she also have a section for lesson on deaf culture. It was important to me not to just know the language but know the culture, taboos, and do's and dont's as well. She's also really funny!
