Mafe Zapata

Even though I can't speak a lot, Mafe still helps me engage in simple and fun conversation. I never feel nervous to ask questions or make mistakes.

I've had about 3 months of lessons now with Mafe and I've had a great time! I have some familiarity with Spanish but not a lot of time to practice speaking with someone one-on-one and I feel completely comfortable to try new words, ask questions, & mess up in class without judgement. We go with lesson plans but I always have side questions to ask and Mafe is always down to share different tips I should know. Definitely recommend!

Excellent teacher, explains everything thoroughly, very engaged, patient, and affirming, and uses the right teaching aids (e.g., handouts, whiteboards, books) and fun to talk to

Mafe is the best! Practicing speaking in the beginning is so intimidating, but Mafe puts you right at ease and creates and environment where it feels okay to try and make mistakes. The lessons are a really nice balance of conversation practice and structured grammar lessons, but I always I feel that I can choose whether I want to focus more on one or the other. Probably most importantly, Mafe is really amazing at meeting me where I am so that I always feel challenged but not completely lost. Plus she is really nice to chat with!

Mafe presented an excellent lesson: a little free conversation warm up, lesso,n and then a special interest item. I love her way of making the conversations seamless and natural.

Mafe is an amazing teacher! She has helped me improve my grammar through lessons and in casual conversation. She offers great feedback and explains topics very thoroughly and clearly. 5/5 stars, would 100% recommend to anyone at any level of Spanish!!
