Olá! I’m a Brazilian Portuguese teacher from São Paulo, now living in Portugal—and a language learner too! I totally get the mix of excitement and challenge in mastering a new language.
My specialty? Helping students speak natural, real-life Portuguese from Day 1, and also CELPE-BRAS prep (I’ll boost your score!).

With over 10 years of teaching experience, I’m a certified Portuguese and English teacher. I started teaching on Italki in 2017 and have since refined my teaching and communication skills.

Catherine is an awesome teacher! When we started our classes I had no previous Portuguese knowledge and now, only a few weeks later, I already feel comfortable with having a full conversation in Portuguese. I can actually feel how I advance with every single class.
Also, she always comes prepared with a plan for the class but everything is flexible in case you prefer focusing on something different. The classes are fun and interesting and everything is done with a smile and a great energy. Thanks to Catherine I'm learning Portuguese faster than I expected and I'm enjoying the process!

I have used italki to learn Portuguese and in so doing tried various teachers. Catherine is hands down the best teacher I have found. I have had lessons with her for over a year now (using skype) and my skill level has increased tremendously thanks to her. She is always prepared for her lessons and every time has material selected appropriate for her students level of understanding furthermore, she creates a fun, relaxed and professional atmosphere in which to learn. I do not believe you will find a better teacher for Portuguese on italki or online than Catherine.

The year of 2025 with Catherine tends to be very exciting. Despite living in China with a few Portuguese speakers, I'm able to manage my Portuguese with all my memories. Catherine is an easy-going person for other who want to learn Portuguese. I would recommend to her 100%
