I'm a UK English teacher. In classes I enjoy meeting students from all over the world and discussing our lives and experiences. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy travel, writing, sport, hiking, arts and crafts and music. I have lived in Spain, Italy and India.
As a teacher, I think what is most important for me is to create a warm and relaxing environment for my students, where students feel that it is OK to make mistakes. That is really important, because making mistakes is how we learn anything new. No-one is perfect from the start, however much they want to be (and as a language student myself, I know how that feels).
In essence, I take my job seriously, but not myself.
Everyone wants to speak perfectly and avoid mistakes,but the goal of language is to communicate. If you can understand and be understood, who cares if you make a mistake? So, my motto is: COMMUNICATION IS GREAT, PERFECTION CAN WAIT!
Lately I am realising that perhaps the most important part of my job is to help my students feel more confident. I meet so many wonderful students who are held back by their lack of confidence in themselves. So I'm making it my mission to support and encourage you!
I cover all topics from home, travel, business, education and more. Pronunciation, presentations, grammar, vocabulary, idioms, fluency and more, including IELTS speaking.
