Hey! My name is Thomas. I'm from California, and I live in Berlin, Germany. I work in early childhood education.
When I was a teenager, I got really curious about the Japanese language. I ended up spending many years learning different languages, using them to live in different countries, and travel. Now I use my language expertise in my work with children, and I teach languages for fun here on iTalki.
I'm passionate about people and human development. I'm a curious person, and I'm interested in cities/geography, music and dance, fitness/health and lots more. I love meeting people on iTalki and learning and laughing together, and helping people make great things happen in their lives.
I can help with several areas of language:
- relocating to and settling into German or English-speaking country
- developing communication skills for work, socializing, family and relatives, interviews, and more
- developing interaction skills like humor, curiosity, professionalism, neutrality, politeness, and more
- reaching B1 fast (within a few months)
- language-learning consulting - the best methods, materials, resources, attitudes, and applications of AI
I've spent more than fifteen years learning and speaking foreign languages. I have a lot of knowledge and wisdom about learning and using language, from academic papers to banter with taxi drivers in primarily oral languages.
I teach lessons 90-100% in the target language.

Ich genieße meinen Unterricht bei Thomas sehr. Er ist geduldig, flexibel und sehr professionell. Die Zeit vergeht schnell, weil der Unterricht mit Thomas Spaß macht, abwechslungsreich und praktisch ist. In unserer ersten Stunde fragte er mich nach meinen Zielen und Motivationen, die deutsche Sprache zu lernen. Durch unseren Unterricht habe ich mehr über den täglichen Gebrauch der deutschen Sprache gelernt. Ich fühle mich sicherer beim Sprechen im Alltag. Ich bin sehr zufrieden und würde Thomas weiter empfehlen.

Thomas is a great teacher! I took speaking classes and that was a really amazing experience. Although speaking other languages sometimes is really difficult Thomas always found ways to make it easier and comfortable, so lessons with him were more useful and interesting.
