Hello, my name’s Joe. I’m a professional English teacher with a CELTA qualification and nine years of experience. Before moving into education, I worked as a corporate lawyer specialising in business law.
Outside of teaching, I’m passionate about music and I'm the lead singer in a band called Mosaic. I'm also into healthy living: I work out regularly, meditate daily, play football, and enjoy cooking.我的教學經歷

I was a corporate lawyer for five years, a university lecturer in business English for three, and a teacher for some of the world’s largest companies. I've taught English in Japan since 2016. Before joining italki, I was the head teacher at the flagship school of Japan’s leading English language institute.我的課程內容與教學風格
My lessons are enjoyable, discussion-based, and focused on helping you speak as much as possible. I ask the questions — you do the talking. All lessons are original and often include videos, self-assessments, text analysis, listening exercises, and role play to keep each session engaging and unique.
During the lesson, I take detailed notes and use a range of correction techniques to improve your accuracy, both in real time and after you speak. At the end of each class, you'll receive a personalised document to help you review your mistakes, absorb new vocabulary, and track your progress.我的教材

Chukyo UniversityI lectured in business English focusing on all aspects of the English language including pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading and writing. At the end of each semester my students gave a professional business presentation, in English, to their peers and invited guests.

2011 - 2013
LawyerI was a legal executive specialising in the defence of litigated claims. I represented banks, insurance companies and large multinational corporations.
The position required the highest possible standards of written and spoken communication in English. Each day I wrote more than a hundred professional letters and emails, negotiated with other lawyers, reported to executives, directors, CEO's and business owners and often gave speeches and made persuasive arguments in court.
