Hello! I'm Sooyoung Kim, a Korean language teacher.
I'm very happy to meet you here on italki. 😊
I love traveling and learning about different cultures. Whenever I have time, I try to visit new countries and explore their languages and traditions. Thanks to these experiences, I understand how exciting—but also challenging—it can be to learn a new language.
I'm still learning and growing every day, so I truly empathize with the difficulties you might face while studying Korean.
Korean may feel unfamiliar at first, but with steady and enjoyable practice together, you’ll definitely see improvement. I’ll tailor the lessons to your goals and learning pace, and make sure they’re both fun and我的教學經歷
The goal of my education is to enable learners to express their thoughts and feelings through language, communicate them to others, understand each other, and establish relationships.
So, I'm always focusing on the learner's language skills and what the learner is interested in.
I think that the learner's Korean ability and the desired learning method are important, so we adjust the pace and progress according to the learner's ability, and make the most of it if there is a method that the learner wants.我的課程內容與教學風格
? I teach Korean using the "communication teaching method"
1) Learn pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar frameworks in controlled situations.
2) Add culture to the acquired language and use it in a controlled educational setting.
3) Applying the linguistic and cultural knowledge of the acquired language in real situations and
improving language use ability.

15 minutes : grammar
10 minutes : vocabulary practice
10 : sentence practice
20 minutes : Practice and organize applied conversation using today's grammar and vocabulary
5 minutes : brief review and notice of what you will learn next time.我的教材

If you are good with grammar but have trouble speaking and using it in conversation, Soo Young will be an effective teacher. Her methods force you to think in Korean and use the grammar being taught. You are forced to associate the grammar patterns with personal experiences and opinions. Because of this association, I think speaking and using the new grammar will come to mind on the spot more easily when you are conversing with Korean people. I feel like over time she will be able to help me achieve my goals.

Initially, I had trouble making compound and complex sentences, but all my worries faded away when I attended Miss Kim’s class. My learning experience with her has improved my grammar and vocabulary significantly and made me more enthusiastic and confident to practice Korean in speech and writing. She sets her expectations clearly and cares deeply about her student's progress. Moreover, she has an inspiring and amiable personality and is easy to connect with. I appreciate all her efforts and will keep on attending her class : )

I love my lessons with 수영쌤! She is great at explaining grammar points and vocabulary. I appreciate that she builds in a lot of time to practice using the grammar and vocabulary from the lesson rather than quickly moving from one activity to the next without allowing for you to digest the new information. She is a wonderful teacher and I would recommend her Korean curriculum lessons to anyone looking to learn or review grammar in a fun and non-stressful way.
