Hi! I’m Tom, a certified English teacher from Britain. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced learner, I can help you to speak more naturally and accurately. I'm friendly and patient, and I am ready to help you progress with your English.
Teaching English has been my work since 2006 and in that time, I’ve guided hundreds of students—from professionals polishing presentations to children mastering basics. I worked in various colleges and language schools before I started teaching online in 2017.
Fun fact: I’m currently living in Panamá and learning Spanish, so I understand the ups and downs of language learning. I also take Spanish lessons right here on italki.我的教學經歷
My English accent is neutral & easy to understand. I'm from Warwickshire, England.
In general, my lessons focus on helping you to practise speaking and mastering verb tenses. We speak about a topic or focus on something specific. I give you plenty of opportunities to speak, and I help you to express yourself. I can also support you with specific skills, test preparation, presentations, or any of your English language needs!
The majority of my students are adults or children over 7 years of age.
I have teaching qualifications & a degree. I've given presentations at conferences about teaching & delivered training. 我的課程內容與教學風格
My lessons are interactive, and I help you to speak as much as possible! I have a patient and calm teaching style. I will support you as you speak and correct you as necessary.
I have lots of experience teaching grammar and verb tenses in English. I feel that this is something very important.
After our lesson, I like to send you some lesson notes and homework if you wish.
Zoom works very well for lessons, and we can use the classroom whiteboard. The italki classroom is great too!

Certificate in TESOL - Trinity College London - 2006I completed the Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Trinity College London), at a college in Coventry. It taught me the skills and knowledge to take my first teaching job. I prepared quality lesson plans and online teaching tools that have been used and appreciated by many teachers and students. I developed materials for various British Council projects including ESOL Nexus, Offender Learning & Anniversaries Project.

English Language LecturerI worked as a lecturer and course organiser for a large college in England. I worked with refugees and international students, preparing them for exams such as IELTS and City & Guilds Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. I was given much teacher training and development while working here.

Online English TutorI have been teaching adults and children online since 2017. I have experience of teaching one-to-one and groups, from beginner level to advanced. I like teaching grammar, vocabulary and reading skills. I can do free conversations classes or specific lessons on topics of choice.

Tom is an excellent and positive teacher!
It's easy to talk to him about any topics. The lessons always have a plan, with new words for each new topic, which is very convenient. I also like that Tom writes pronunciation mistakes and we can discuss them. This way, I can make good progress :)
