Experienced IELST and Chinese teacher, getting an overall band 8 Hi, everyone. I am Derek from Guangdong, China. But now I am living in Ankara pursuing my study. I have grown strong interests in learning languages since I was a kid. So far, I have learnt 4 foreign languages including English, French, Japanese and Turkish. To me, language study is never a burden but more like a funny thing to do. When I am studying, I also like to make comparisons among different languages, attempting to find their differences and similarities. Actually, getting to know the inner logic and culture of different languages can really help us to learn them faster and easier. And of course, that is what I will include in my class. Chinese:Speaking of my experience in teaching Chinese, I have been giving Chinese lessons to my foreign friends and other students for 2 years. I always found it inspiring to not just teach them the language but also the deeper meaning behind the surface. And usually my students show great interests in it, which really helps them to better memorize the complex characters and idioms. For every student, I like to make a specific study plan for them according to their Chinese level as well as their personal goal. English: I also have a lot to talk about when it comes to English teaching, especially preparation course for IELST Test. I personally got a overall band 8 in my second IELST test.
