I am a professor of public health in the United States and have been taking Tamil lessons with Dr. Amirthakadeswarar for a month now. I am incredibly impressed by the breath of his knowledge of Tamil and by his love for the language and his dedication to impart that love to his students. To learn a language well, it is not enough merely to learn the vocabulary and the grammar. It is also incumbent upon the student to deeply understand the roots of the language and to appreciate its inherent beauty, through exposure to its poetry and literature.
