Rashmi is an excellent Kannada teacher - she is very patient, always comes to lessons prepared, and is also great about pacing content so that it is challenging but not overwhelming. I had my Kannada class with Girish while he was travelling in Leh, and it was such a unique experience to be learning while getting a glimpse of the incredible landscapes he was walking through during our class. We explored interesting Kannada words, I tried to explain my crazy new work, and then I got to ask him all about his trip. One of my questions was about the local trick for dealing with “soroche” (altitude sickness) in Ladakh — something we both know from our South American experiences! I absolutely love my classes with Girish. He is so easy to talk to, incredibly helpful, and every session is filled with laughter. Beyond learning Kannada, I always leave our classes with great conversations and memorable moments. He has a wonderful way of making learning feel natural, fun, and meaningful.

Have been thoroughly enjoying my lessons with ಜಯಶ್ರೀ ಅವರೇ. We will soon be finished with the novel we are reading : ). She adapts to your learning style. For example, when I asked her to give me a sentence when I encounter unknown vocabulary, she readily gives me a sentence to help me remember it. My Kannada has improved a lot!

So far we covered most of the important grammar to speak, Shilpa delivers complicated grammar in an accessible way, I really appreciate how she encourages me to speak even a little bit each time. Shreya is an excellent instructor. She can take my beginner understanding of the language, correct me, encourage me, and explain the reasoning well. The pace was good for me, not too slow or too fast. The format works well (she types the words into the chat) and I follow, copy, repeat, and discuss. She clearly explained the lesson goals and followed through. She can explain the literal translation into English which helps me build my understanding. She also is teaching the preferred region-specific words which are important to me.
