Thanks so much for the lesson, it was fun! A lot of new words learned from context, a lot of cultural insights. Akhila is great at meeting my expectations as a learner - I asked her not to use English in class so she is using proper Malayalam, explaining the new words to me with easier ones, but staying in Malaylam - for full immersion - just what I need :) She also is a very open person which is super helpful when you don't only want to learn a language but also the culture. Looking forward to our next class!

The first memorable lesson with Abishek complete: I highly recommend his classes as he's well-prepared, uses personalised materials to meet your needs and is very kind and patient. The lesson was not only about learning Malayalam, but also I have found out many fun facts about the culture, food and history. Today was my 10th lesson with Sachin...a milestone! :) I am starting to train my ear better for listening exercises where I was initially struggling before. I am also understanding sentence structure and speaking more confidently as I learn more words. Sachin is a great mentor/teacher and has always been positive throughout my learning journey and made himself accessible to help in whatever way he can. Appreciate his time always!

Nitz is an excellent teacher. I started learning Malayalam out of interest a little over a year ago. Today I completed my 100th lesson. In a short amount of time, I was able to speak. Recently, I managed to read Aadujeevitham, a critically acclaimed novel written in Malayalam. I can now watch Malayalam movies without subtitles, read, write, and have a conversation with native speakers. This is tremendous progress and would not be possible without Nitz. I know 5 other languages so learning a new language is not something I did recently. However, I can confidently say that Nitz is the best language teacher to learn from. Her approach to teaching is unique and she makes you feel comfortable. It can be intimidating to learn a new language, but she is fluent in many topics, and she always manages to strike up a conversation in the topics that interest you. She comes down to your level to make you feel confident. I am glad I chose Nitz as my teacher. Plus, she is super fun to talk to :)

Reshmi is an excellent teacher who takes care to understand the needs and level of students. She uses an advanced approach that is sensitive to the differences between formal and everyday language and she goes out of her way to clearly explain how Malayalam works. Her approach to this difficult language is designed to overcome the problems faced by non-native speakers of the language, in particular, focusing on the correct pronunciation of new sounds and the need to understand how the language is actually spoken and used.

Starting with no previous knowledge, I have now completed 100 sessions with Ciya. She also taught me the handwritten forms of the Malayalam script with a digital writing pad, something that is very important, yet few teachers of languages with a non-European writing system have done for me. Learning Malayalam requires time, and Ciya has always been very patient, friendly, and helpful with me. She also explains about Kerala culture and traditions. Regardless of your language level, I can warmly recommend studying with Ciya. She is one of the gems teaching here on iTalki.

Pooja is very patient and helpful, I am currently learning to read in Malayalam and for me this is the hardest part. The way she revises with every lesson is really helpful. This was only our third lesson and I was able to read words and construct a few of my own sentences! Very exciting.
