Nota bene: "Jag ser en hund" and "Ser jag en hund?" Adverbs modifying the first verb in the sentence, such as "idag", is placed before it. Read this carefully [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_grammar#Syntax]. A TL;DR-answer to the issue of 'why isn't it a question when a adverb(s)[some categories of]+verb is first in the sentence?' is: Questions doesn't have any adverbs placed before the verb.

To actually use "Kan du vara snäll och ..." is perhaps the second most polite way to express 'please' in Swedish, the most polite would possibly be "Skulle du kunna vara snäll och ... ". Extremly far from passive aggresive ("passiv-aggresiv") and rude. Most of the time people just say "Kan du ... " or shorter.

    Min familj.

Jag kommer från Texas i USA[1] och hela min familj bor i här. Jag bor med min mor och far, och jag har en bror. Han heter Sean och han bor i Kalifornien. Jag har bara en äldre släkting[2], min mormor. Hon bor i Houston, ungefär fyra timmar bort, därmed ser jag[3] henne inte mycket. Jag har många[4] kusiner och jag älskar nästan allt med[5] dem, haha! Seriöst, jag älskar allt med[5] min familj. Hur kan någon inte älskar sin familj?

[1]: To write Region/State, Country is only used when addressing a physical letter in Swedish.

[2]: There isn't a generic term for grandparents in Swedish, you need to specifiy if it's either maternal ("morföräldrar") or paternal ("farföräldrar"), or choose another phrasing.

[3]: This has a excellent explanation here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_grammar#Syntax , under the headline "Subordinate clause".

[4]: "Mycket" is only used for uncountable nouns (compare it with 'many' vs. 'much' in English, eg. 'I have many cousins' vs. 'I have much money').

[5]: This is just a case of a different preposition usage in the phrase "I love almost everything about them" in Swedish.

"Sig" is used when referring to a third person as an grammatical object, eg. "Han lär sig" (he'll learn. "att lära" is a reflexive verb in Swedish). As to the arbitraryness of "den" and "det", or why nouns is seperated into different grammatical genders in some languages ... they just are. Our Indo-European ancestors (except the Slavs) apparently thought it was a neat idea to use multiple articles, for phonological or other reasons.

The other person missed some errors (I only highlighted those s/he missed), hence this additional one with some comments:

    Presentation nummer två!

Hej igen italki. Jag älskar denna webbplats, den är jättebra! Jag lär mig svenska för att jag ska bo i Sverige nästa år för Foreign Exchange. Jag är mycket glad[1]! Jag vet inte vilket område jag kommer att bo i, men jag vet att var som helst blir fantastiskt. Detta är en kort presentation på grund av att[2] min svenska är dålig, för jag kan bara lite, men jag ska skriva mer[2] senare.

    Hej då!

[1]: "upphetsad" do only have the meaning of 'aroused' in Swedish, so to use it as a translation of 'excited' isn't a good idea.

[2]: I guessed that you intended to write something along "this introduction is short because my Swedish is bad, but I'll write more later", and not "this is a short presentation about why my Swedish is bad", which is what essentially the other persons correction means.
