I’ve been putting a lot of effort into studying Korean recently because I didn’t pass the Korean class in the spring semester. I was only five points away from getting the credit, which was really disappointing for me. After that, I decided not to give up and started studying more seriously. Since the summer vacation, I’ve been using an app called “Duolingo” to practice Korean every single day. It’s a fun and convenient way to study because I can learn even during short breaks or while commuting. I mainly focus on vocabulary and pronunciation through the app, and I try to repeat the sentences out loud to improve my speaking skills. This semester, I’ve also been reviewing what I learned before in class. I take notes carefully while listening to the lectures, and I try to understand the grammar points I struggled with last time. Even though it’s sometimes hard to keep up with everything, I can feel that I’m improving little by little. My goal this time is to pass the class and finally earn the credit that I missed in the spring. I really want to prove to myself that my hard work will pay off.

This week, it was really hard to remember all the new moves for our Yosakoi dance. Every time we learn a new choreography, I try to keep dancing again and again until I can do it naturally. First, I watch the practice videos many times. I focus on the movements and how the seniors dance. Then I listen to the song carefully. On my way to and from school, I always listen to the music and imagine myself dancing. It helps me remember the timing and rhythm. After that, I actually move my body and practice the dance over and over until it becomes part of me. This is my routine for learning new dances. Sometimes I feel tired, but when I can finally dance the whole choreography smoothly, I feel really happy. I want to find a more efficient way to memorize the moves, but for now, I think this is the best method for me.
