Are you wanting to learn how to speak clear and completely understandable American English so someone from the United States can really effortlessly understand you without assumptions or confusion? So you don't have to repeat yourself? Have you ever had a native English speaker from the United States watch and listen to you speak and let you know what mistakes you make by typing what they heard you say in written form then put a correction next to it in written form? Have you had them judge your mouth movement? Have you had them really focus on your letter sounds? Maybe you mis pronounce your short vowels. Have you been taught pronunciation from someone from the United States? Have you then had that person give you a lesson plan that would teach you letter sounds? A step by step formula/guide/lesson plan that would teach you letter sounds (short vowels, long vowels, letter blends)? If you're wanting to speak clear and completely understandable American English and you've never been taught letter sounds from someone from the United States then you may have learned the British form of pronunciation OR a mixture of American+(country where you're from) pronunciation. Start your journey to sounding more American today! It is possible! It is achievable! Check out my tutor profile. I offer pronunciation classes!

I’m back on italki after a year abroad. After spending the last year abroad working in English education and teacher training, I am now back here with new experience, new insights, and a fresh perspective on how people actually learn languages successfully. While teaching students and training teachers, I saw some important patterns that I would like to share with you,, especially if you are at the A1–B1 level. 1. Many strong teachers avoid beginners. A lot of very good teachers prefer to work only with intermediate or advanced students because beginners feel slower and less excited. As a result, most A1–B1 learners study for years with less experienced teachers. This often slows progress, lowers quality, and leads to frustration or loss of motivation. 2. Many beginners choose only low-priced lessons. The idea is usually: “I’ll study cheaply now and book a professional teacher later.” In reality, this often creates weak foundations, confusion, and long-term plateaus. In my experience, most students who follow this approach struggle to reach B1–B2 for years, and many never get there. 3. Progress comes from commitment, not magic. Even the best teacher cannot help if learning is inconsistent. I once worked with a student who planned 85 hours for the year but completed only about 30 because of missed and rescheduled classes and unfinished homework. The result was confusion, low progress, and frustration, not because of ability, but because of a lack of routine and commitment. English is not learned by luck. It is learned by the right guidance, strong foundations, and regular practice.

Who wants to sound like a native English speaker from the United States? Maybe you're wanting to visit the United States. Maybe you're wanting to move to the United States. Maybe you got a job in the United States and you want to be able to communicate with people in your new neighborhood. Or maybe you already live in the United States but were born in another country, but you want to learn how to sound more like you live here. You want to talk to people in the grocery store, book store and more! But your accent is bothering you. Have you ever had someone from the United States really judge your pronunciation? Really listen to all the sounds you make when you speak? Then let you know what letter sounds that you say wrong in American English? Then actually teach you how to say American English letter sounds clearly and correctly. So your nouns, vowels etc sound really clear and understandable. Not like.. 'Sort of like American English' but really American English. That way your listener knows exactly what you're saying without confusion, hesitation, assumptions, mis understanding. Wouldn't your listener appreciate that? Wouldn't that make the conversation more free flowing and more enjoyable? Check out my tutor profile and book a lesson of mine. I've been tutoring students around the world since 2018 to sound more American.
