Georgian language
I was recently to Georgia and Armenia. I would like to recommend you Saba as a georgian language teacher, I only took 5 or 6 georgian lessons from him, and I was able to manage all the turistic stuff that was needed, like ordering meals, bargaining taxi fares, asking for directions or recommendations of food, drinks...etc. Slowly I was able to read the scripts and in this wise I could check out the destinations of the marshrutka busses. I could understand the numbers up until 29, but above that I somehow lost track. Saba taught me the usefull phrase: write it down please, so people wrote the numbers down on paper or on the cellphone's keyboard and there was no misunderstanding.
As hungarian language conjugates the verbs and nouns too, and uses the same word order - I felt georgian very close to my heart. Of course the sounding of the words and the melody of the language differs a great deal.
Georgian people were very helpful, and when they found out that I know some basic words they seamed very relieved. People never turned their back, or acted ignorant when we asked for help. They always tried to explain or call somebody else for help, so many times we've found ourself in beetween 4 or 5 helpful people. Georgian people rarely speak english, but almost everybody spoke good russian. Unfortunatelly I couldn't remember the russian words as good as georgian words, but I'm willing to do more effort in the future. A large part of the world speaks russian, so it would be worth trying it.
The landscape was something very new
to us, hills, valleys, rivers embraced by the mountains of the caucasus. The georgian kitchen is fantastic with a large variation of dishes. We were just eating the whole time. We usually try to see always something new of the world, and go to a different country every year, but we decided to return to Georgia again. We plan to visit the seaside and the mountains of the northern part next time.
