Today's phrase is to be rigged. Now when something is rigged, it is believed that it's operated using some kind of dishonest behaviour to promote a desired outcome. Now, let me just give you some examples to show you what I mean: So, if we say, for example,  The job vacancy has been advertised in the newspaper but I believe it's been rigged. We all know who's going to win.  The football match was definitely rigged. I don't think the football players were playing in their usual way today.  The competition to win a holiday in the local newspaper has been won by an employee of that newspaper. That was definitely rigged.

A handy business phrase to talk about what is about to happen. That is today's subject.

Think of a time when your friend wanted to buy something, but you didn't like it. What did you say to him/her? Listen to this conversation: Louise: Here is the dress I love. What do you think? Does it look ok on me? Zoe: Well I'm not sure. Louise: Why what's wrong with it? Zoe: I don't think it suits you. It's a bit short. Why don't you try this black one? Louise: But what's wrong with this one? Zoe: If I were you I'd try the black one. I think it looks great.

Speculating If I was to ask you about your dream job you may not know exactly what that would involve. In this case you would have to speculate. Here is some useful language for speculating. maybe/perhaps It is fairly/quite/very/extremely/ (un)likely that It's quite possible (that) I imagine/suspect (that)
