Gli italiani amano andare al bar. Ci vanno per fare colazione, a volte per pranzare, per fare uno spuntino, per prendere un aperitivo o un caffè con gli amici. Il bar, infatti, è anche un luogo di ritrovo. La mattina, molti fanno colazione al bar. Alcune persone preferiscono fare una colazione dolce: bevono un caffè (normale o macchiato), un cappuccino o un caffellatte e mangiano qualcosa di dolce, per esempio un cornetto vuoto o con la cioccolata. Non tutti gli italiani amano bere il caffè, alcuni bevono il caffè al ginseng, il tè al limone oppure la cioccolata. Altri, invece, preferiscono fare una colazione salata e allora ordinano un panino ripieno (con il prosciutto, con la mortadella, con il salame, etc.) oppure mangiano un tramezzino con il tonno e l’uovo, con il prosciutto cotto e la mozzarella. I tramezzini di Venezia sono molto famosi per la loro varietà. 
Gli italiani fanno spesso una sosta al bar per prendere un caffè in piedi al bancone e poi vanno subito via. Inoltre, sono davvero esigenti per quanto riguarda il caffè. 
Al bar in Italia non si va solo per fare colazione, ma anche la sera per trascorrere il tempo con gli amici e bere qualcosa insieme. Dopo il lavoro, infatti, è tradizione andare a fare aperitivo al bar: si può bere una birra, un calice di vino, uno spritz o si possono bere delle bibite analcoliche.
Alcuni bar sono aperti anche la notte e si può far festa e bere i cocktail. Altri, invece, sono aperti solo di giorno per mangiare e fare colazione.
Insomma, per gli italiani il bar è un luogo davvero importante!
