Plurals: Kuttikal, Pusthakangal and When to Skip Them | Spoken Malayalam #020
Descrizione
In English you add an "s" to almost everything: books, trees, three books, two cups. English speakers bring that habit straight into Malayalam and say things like മൂന്ന് പുസ്തകങ്ങൾ (moonnu pusthakangal) = three books, for every count, every time. It is not wrong, but at home people usually say മൂന്ന് പുസ്തകം (moonnu pusthakam) = three books, because the number already tells you there is more than one.
In this episode:
• The everyday ending: -kal
• Words ending in -am: the -ngal change
• People: -maar and a few special ones
• The respectful plural: avar
• When malayalam skips the plural
