¿Qué es una muletilla?
En general, son palabras o frases que son repetidas con frecuencia por el interlocutor quien intenta plantear una idea para la cual no encuentra o no tiene las palabras necesarias o acertadas. Las muletillas si son usadas repetitivamente pueden empobrecer el idioma y la comunicación ya que son expresiones innecesarias que no llevan implícito ningún valor o contenido informativo. Estas frases suelen ser vacía y sin sentido ya que se emplean solo por hábito.

¿Cuál es su significado? 
Según el diccionario de la Real Academia Española define muletilla como “voz o frase que se repite mucho por hábito“. Es decir, es una palabra o una frase innecesaria que se repite en una conversación, por costumbre o como apoyo al hablar. 

En realidad, puedes eliminar las muletillas de la frase y no cambia el sentido, mira estos ejemplos:

1. ¿Sabes hablar español, no?
-   Sabes hablar español?

2. A ver, yo te entiendo pero tú sabes, es complicado…
-   Yo te entiendo pero es complicado…

3. El otro día fuimos a cenar en plan todos los amigos juntos.
-   El otro día fuimos a cenar todos los amigos juntos.

Aunque sean innecesarias y sean repetitivas, esto no quiere decir que no se usen en el DÍA A DÍA. La realidad es que todos tenemos preferencias propias en cuanto a las muletillas, normalmente no las elegimos, sino que nos las vamos apropiando conforme nos vamos relacionando con los hablantes nativos.

En definitiva, las muletillas son una pieza más del puzle de la comunicación y del Español.
