The first is wrong but it can be spoken. When you write it down though, you need to break it into two sentences and add a question mark: "I don't know. Where is the car?"

Per questo, la tua prima frase è incorretta perché il soggetto (the car) non può andare dopo il verbo (is) in un'affermazione, anche se c'è la particella interrogativa (per ciò si chiama "domanda indiretta).
