Insegnante professionistaIn Spanish, “es que” is a very common expression used to give an excuse, justify a decision, or soften a refusal or request.
It sounds natural and polite, especially in everyday conversations.
👉 It is often used when explaining why you can’t do something or why you are asking for something.
Structure:
Es que + explanation
Examples:
¿Vienes a cenar el sábado?
— No puedo. Es que tengo que estudiar.
¿Puedo cerrar la ventana?
— Es que entra mucho ruido.
💡 Important:
“Es que” does not mean “it’s that” literally. It works more like “the thing is…” or “it’s because…” in English.
¿Por qué no vienes hoy?
Es que cansar.
Es que estoy cansado.
Porque es que cansado.
