Barcelona, in its tourist version, is kind of nightmare for the people who live in that city. Overcrowded with tourists visiting the main points of interest; air contamination from these gigantic cruise ships moored in the port; parts of the city transformed in a kind of modernist architecture theme park for the entertainment of large tourist groups; a lot of tourist apartments all over the place, and so on and so forth.
Naturally, for shoppers, restaurant owners, hoteliers, and the rest of tourist businesses, all this must be all right! Or even more, I guess they think it’s the most similar to a golden paradise on earth. However, I would say it’s rather a fool’s paradise.
Anyway, putting aside tourism as a somehow annoying issue, if you are a city type of person and you love enjoying its atmosphere, architecture, history, gastronomy, and what have you, Barcelona is an interesting place to visit and enjoy, that’s for sure.
