Most lessons include personalized correction notes and advice to help you sound more like a native Japanese. For grammar lessons, I use Minna no Nihongo and Genki, but I can accommodate other textbooks upon request. No textbook? No problem! I've prepared over 50 PowerPoint tutoring slides to support your learning from day one.

I do have teacher certification as a Japanese instructor. And I can also help explain passages and patterns in English. I will use conversation starters and textbooks to get you speaking, but your italki time is your time. We will talk about issues and do practical exercises that you are interested in.

I first got involved in teaching Japanese as a conversation tutor when I was at the university in San Francisco, USA.  Since then, I love working with people from different cultural backgrounds. This is also one of the reasons why I became a documentary photographer. I have visited over 90 countries to document different cultures and people. English-Japanese translator but also teaching Japanese I've taught over 300 hours on a different platform and switched to Italki recently. I teach to my regular students on the other platform I use, so my time slots here on Itaki are a little bit limited at this moment but I’m planning to switch to Italki completely in the near future. Although I have 3 years of experience teaching Japanese, I am still learning how to teach efficiently. I mainly teach casual conversation or N5-3 classes. Whenever you cannot understand my Japanese, I can switch to English to explain if it's needed. And I have already been teaching Japanese for about ten years. As mentioned in 'About Me', I am not a typical type of Japanese person, rather, I would like to train my student indepent or be able to get through any issue by themselves.
