It's something quite small but can make a huge difference.
Take a look at these two sentences:
(1)"Minha esposa está na cama a essa hora."

(2)"Minha esposa está de cama essa semana."
In one sentence the idea is my wife is probably sick and can't get out of bed or need to rest because of some health situation, while in the other the idea is she is in bed to sleep.
Can you tell which one gives the idea of being sick?

(2)"Minha esposa está de cama essa semana."
