Happy almost St. Patrick's Day!
The weather's perfect today, and my dad got me in the spirit last night. He painted some awesome stories and worksheets about St. Patrick for me to learn more – I got to answer them all with a bright green pen, of course!
St. Patrick was the patron saint of Ireland, dedicated his life to bringing Christianity to the Irish people. Legend has it he would talk so long that his walking stick would actually grow roots into the ground while he preached! He even used a shamrock, a three-leaf clover, to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). St. Patrick died on March 17th, which is why it's become a special day to celebrate his life and legacy every year.
Speaking of celebrating, my dad even made a reservation at an Irish restaurant this Sunday! I love the beef pie there. One thing I don't quite understand though, is why my dad calls it “green vomiting day” sometimes. Apparently, Guinness has nothing to do with the original spirit of the holiday.
