What is your favourite word that is almost useless in everyday English? Mine is Portmanteau - It has two meanings. 1. The blending of two words sounds and meanings together like brunch or podcast. 2. A type of large suitcase. I love the complete difference between the two definitions. Hope you can share yours.

What is your favourite item that you own that is from another country that you have visited?

Idioms are one of my favourite parts of the English language! Do you have a favourite idiom? Mine is - "to open a can of worms." Which means to do to something and have more problems later on. For me the imagery of a can full of worms is disgusting.

The best way to learn new vocabulary is to actively pursue words you don't understand. It's all well and good to note down words that you don't know the meaning of, but actively trying to understand and new words will help improve your vocabulary. The best way to use this new vocabulary is by practicing speaking and by ensuring you use it correctly.
