what does "in a shot" mean in these contexts, please?
1 But it also depends on how many characters are in a shot.
2 In the second quarter, he spun by a defender on the baseline before softly dropping in a shot with his left hand.
I take it that in the second sentence "in a shot" suggests someone quick in movement, he finished his shooting “in a blink". Could i understand it this way?
How about "in a shot" in the first text? is "shot" here the same usage as it is in "take a shot of ..."(给...照张相)
Thank you.

"dropping in a shot" = a tennis term= A drop shot will go just over the net, landing close to the net. If the shot is played fast enough, it will supposedly not allow the opponent to hit it back.
"take a shot of "= to take a photo of

The word "characters" in the first sentence suggest the writer might be talking about filming a movie, also referred to as "shooting a scene." In that case, ''in a shot" would mean in a single cinematic view or take.
