I'm married and I have two daughters of 8 and 3 yo. I'm learning English because I need it for my job. I only want to exchange conversations via Skype because I think is the most useful way to practice. I can also help a little bit with spanish cause my wife is cuban.

A Nasal Plosion is whenever we have a construction of [T/D] + [vowel] + [N], and is performed by blocking the airway leading out of your mouth, causing the air to instead come out of your nose (hece the Nasal). Also, for common words in English, i.e. can, to, him, her, them - typically these words will take a Schwa sound (pronounced "uh"), and will even take Elided forms, i.e. him = uhm, her = uhr, them = uhm. An Elision is when a sound is ignored, either in words or in phrases. In English, we have several Elided forms, especially for common words. i.e. her, him, them = uhr, uhm, uhm. In English, whenever the letter T comes after the letter N in an Unstressed syllable, the T is usually silent. i.e. winter, sentiment. This is especially important because this affects the ways Verbs are pronounced when they change Participle forms. i.e. want INTO wanted, wanting. The Schwa is easily the most common sound in English, and very frequently will take the place of common words and expressions. One such expression is when using the word "to" as part of an Infinitive Phrase. i.e. I am waiting to (tuh) go. Another common one is the word "can". i.e. I can (kuhn) see you.     I agree with you. Sometimes I think too much about my accent weather it is nice to be listened or not. I'm learning anyway not worrying particularly about this aspect of the lamguage. Bye and thanks for your article.  Giuseppe

    Ieri è stata una buona giornata

    Ieri mi sono alzato verso le 5:15. Per iniziare, ho studiato italiano per tre ore. Poi sono uscito perchè avevo una lezione di computer, per imparare come spedire la musica elettronica . Sono rientrato a casa, quindi sono uscito a piedi e nel mentre ascoltavo il libro Dracula. Ho camminato per circa sei chilometri e mezzo che ho percorso in circa un'ora e mezza. Quando sono arrivato di nuovo a casa, ho mangiato e riposato. Alle quattro, sono andato al funerale di una donna con la quale avevo lavorato in passato. Era una donna gentile. Arrivato di nuovo casa, io e mia moglie abbiamo cenato. Poi ho pulito i piatti, ho parlato al telefono con mia figlia a New York e chattato con mio figlio in California. Poi ho suonato la chitarra e ho scritto una canzone che si intitola: Fidatevi delle vostre ali (Trust your wings). Dobbiamo avere fiducia nelle nostre ali, giusto? Sono andato a letto alle 23,15 circa. E' stata una buona giornata!

    Is this sentence correct in Italian?

    In English the sentence is:

    I prefer to get the later train because it's less busy

    I have written the sentence in Italian but I am not sure if its correct?

    io preferisco prendere il treno tardi perche meno impegnato

    Preferisco prendere il treno più tardi perchè trovo meno gente/perchè non è affollato/perchè posso trovare un posto libero  ecc

    Il mistero della bambina scomparsa.


    Ieri sera, prima di andare a letto, sono andato nella camera dei  bambini a controllare. Sono rimasto scioccato al vedere che mia figlia piccola, di sei anni, non era a letto. Dove poteva essere? Non era in bagno, non era sotto il letto. Cos’era successo? Sono corso giu’ dalle scale e ho cercato nella cucina e nel salotto. Li' non c'era nessuno. Un attimo prima avevo notato che c’era una luce nel garage, ma credevo che ci fosse il cane. Quando sono entrato in garage, non ho visto nessuno. “Amore – sei qui?” Niente. Dopo un pò ho visto che c’era una persona nella macchina, seduta nel seggiolino e con la cintura di sicurezza allacciata. La mia piccola stava ancora dormendo. Mia figlia la sonnambula!

    Next weekend. Tomorrow we are going to visit a friend of ours who lives near the beach. Even if it's winter, visiting a place on the cost , is a nice experience. At lunch we'll cook some meat on the barbecue, hoping the weather will help us. We have pork steak and beaf steak to roast and a bottle of sardinian red wine. If the weather won't be nice, we have a beautiful house in which we can stay in. The place is situated in the northeast sardinian coast and it's called Alghero. Alghero is a city in which people speak a sort of catalan, for they had had a spanish influence from the nearby Catalunya region. The city for this reason it's also named Barceloneta. Wish me luck for my weekend and enjoy yourself.

    First notebook entry: Introducing myself

    Sto imparando l'italiano perché mi piace il suono della lingua. Mi piaciono anche il cibo e la musica, in particolar modo il gruppo che si chiama Modà.

    La mia madrelingua è l'inglese e vivo in scozia. ( sono madrelingua inglese)

    Mi piace imparare le lingue e mi piace fare esercizio fisico.

    Christmas holydays. Christmas' holydays finished yesterday and schools had reopened. My two daughters went back to school and their teacher checked and corrected the homeworks they had to do during the holydays. I was worried because my older daughter, that's eight years old, had to complete many exercises and sometimes she get confused, leaving some of them undone. I have to say that after the correction of homeworks at school by teachers, my daughters was very happy because the average mark was 9.5 out of 10. In Italy there are two main teachers for each class: one teaches Italian and History, the other one teaches Maths, Sciences and Geography. This two teachers works only for that class. They also have a teacher for religion and a teacher for English, but both of them teach in several classes. In my daughter's class there is also a teacher that help a disable kid for her duties. Unfortunately she has to spend her life in a weelchair due to a problem at birth. She's really cute and all the children in the class love her and hel her. Bye to the next time

    First notebook entry: Introducing myself

    Ciao! Mi chiamo Mariela e sono una principiante. Sono messicana e vorrei apprendere/imparare l'italiano perché è una lingua simile allo Spagnolo. Parlo Inglese, Francese e ovviamente Spagnolo. Vorrei fare amicizia con stranieri per condividere le nostre conoscenze e crescere culturalmente. Mi piace ascoltare musica, apprendere e viaggiare.
