I am a native English and Punjabi speaker, the latter of which I speak two regional dialects as well as the standard 'Majhi' form spoken in the Central belt of the Punjab region. I am able to read and write in both Gurmukhi and Shahmukhi scripts of Punjabi. My Urdu and Hindi is highly proficient when it comes speaking, however, I am still learning how to read and write fluently in the target languages , as well as improving my technical vocabulary in these two languages. I am studying Italian, French and Spanish and would love to enhance my skills further by immersing myself in an environment with native speakers. In exchange I can help anyone with their English, Urdu and Punjabi queries and those who are looking to gain further knowledge. I would also just love to meet others and learn more from them :)

    Reading widely, especially non-fiction and news really helps expand your vocabulary.

    From the Middle east and Indian Subcontinent I love the sounds of the Arabic and Punjabi languages 


    Out of the Western languages it has to be Spanish for me

    I learnt how to speak Punjabi and Urdu mostly by listening to and watching films in those target languages as a kid - I don't do it anymore because I no longer listen to songs etc (most music is rubbish nowadays) - but coming back to the main point, yes I think it does help. Even listening to news and documentaries is also a great help. However, for me, the greatest acceleration was when I engaged in community projects with speakers of those target languages. Putting yourself in that language environment and making a conscious effort to speak it really helps you go that extra mile.

    For those who speak more than one native language...

    Like myself, if you speak more than one native language, which language do you usually think in? 

    I know it sounds weird but even though I speak English on a daily basis, I always find myself thinking in my Northern Punjabi dialect (a variant of the Standard Punjabi which I also speak) - if I don't do this I struggle with my English and end up being lost for words! I was exposed to both languages at the same time as a kid so maybe it's just my brain's way of choosing one over the other - I don't know lol

    So I was thinking, is this normal or do I need help? haha

    How about you guys? I would love to know your thoughts and have some input!

    I am a native speaker  of three languages however I can't write one of them - Urdu

    I would keep Punjabi because the poetry is amazing but I would also love to be able to speak Spanish as I have always wanted to learn it - and  French too!

    At 5:32 am

    It's 5:32 am and I can't sleep. I can't stop thinking about how I'm going to wake up early today, about a movie I finished watching two hours ago, about how I'm going to get rid of a lot of stuff that's taking up a lot of space in my room and much more. It's funny, once I started writing about them the thoughts have all vanished. It's like they're afraid of stepping into reality, afraid of being lonely and lost in this world, afraid if their creator doesn't transform them into action or being postponed to what so called "procrastination".
    Yes, we humans get one to three ideas a week. And If we act upon those thoughts we can change our lives. Of course, not those kind of thoughts that I've mentioned above.


    It would be "our life" if it were ONE life that belonged to EVERYONE or a PARTICULAR GROUP of mentioned people - since this not the case  we should write "our lives"

    1 People who are different from ordinary people are considered to have a mental disorder. 2 Could you tell me what time the plane will take off? 3 What will happen if one puts ice into a glass of hot water? 4 The pilots had to land the plane as it was running out of fuel. I hope that helps!

    Hello, I would be happy to give you some tips and assist you but the best way would be to speak the language with a native speaker. Listen to radio and news. Feel free to message me. If you can find yourself a language partner that would be great, otherwise to get support from a teacher or community tutor requires investment.
