It was such a pleasure chatting with you and practicing English with you, Flor. I look forward to continuing practicing conversation with you.     Manny, el acento depende de la región. En mi caso, yo estudié para que mi dicción sea lo más neutral posible. En el artículo no digo que usar -o, -a sea siempre el caso, solo que "suele ser". No menciono las excepciones porque ésta es una guía rápida de tips para hablar español. He tratado de condensar lo más útil.

    Aliph, cuando nos referimos a Estados Unidos usamos el singular, porque estamos hablando de un solo país. Mucha suerte aprendiendo el español :)

    Unes los cables juntos. (You join the cables together)
    Vive en Europa. (He/she lives in Europe)<-- This can actually apply for he/she since you are not using a pronoun. If you mean to be explicit about the person you would say: 'él vive en Europa'
    Me abre la puerta. (He/she is opening the door for me)<--Same case as before
    Añade sal al arroz. (he/she adds salt to the rice)<--Same case
    Asiste al concierto. (he/she is attending the concert)<--Same case
    Describes el libro. (You describe the book)/ Describen el libro (Ustedes)
    Discutes tranquilamente. (You are discussing quietly)
    Permitimos al perro en la casa. (We allowed the dog in the house)
    Decidimos Decidiremos esta noche. (We are deciding tonight)
    Escriben Están escribiendo juntos el contrato. (They are writing the contract together)
    La interrumpen. (They interrupt her)
    Reciben un regalo. (They receive a gift)
    Suben las escaleras. (They go up the stairs)
    Sufres por el calor.(You are suffering from the heat)/Sufren por el calor (Ustedes)
    Sales temprano de la fiesta. (You leave the party early)/ Salen temprano de la fiesta(Ustedes)

    Querida Sharon, no te dejes intimidar por errores que cometemos todos los que aprendemos un idioma. Yo misma estoy aprendiendo inglés para poder comunicarme mejor con mis alumnos que tienen un nivel más básico de español, así que entiendo las dificultades que enfrentas. Lo importante es que practiques y escuches tu español el mayor tiempo posible, solo así diferenciar los artículos y otros pequeños errores se volverá casi instintivo.

    Querida Laura,  es precisamente la práctica que permite que mejores tus tiempos al hablar. Y en lo que llevamos de práctica, tú has mejorado muchísimo :)
