Welcome back to another episode of Streetwise English podcast. I'm your host, Carl. Today I want to talk to you about note taking and note taking apps. So in the course of learning a language or living your life in general, you have to take notes. Notes, help you organize your thoughts and help you remember things and help you learn things.

So note taking is very important. I like to use several apps to take notes. I've experimented with different apps over the years, but today I want to talk about my favorite apps for taking notes. I will list them in the order that I use them. So I use Google Keep most. Google Keep is part of the Google suite of apps, and the advantage of Google Keep is that I can take notes on my iPad and they will show up on my computer and also on my phone.

And all of these apps that I'm going to talk about allow you to write with a digital pen, which is important for me. Why? Because I like to write down my notes with handwriting. And when you're learning things like Chinese, you need to write the characters by hand instead of typing them. And any language actually that you're learning, it helps to handwrite the vocabulary or words, because then you're more likely to remember them.
I've read that somewhere. So Google Keep is a great option because it allows you to view your notes on multiple devices because it's saved online. And then also because you can add lines, paper and grids, and you can handwrite in Google Keep. And I use Google Keep every day. And you can also connect Google Keep to other things like Google Calendar and things like that.

Staying safe online is important. But a lot of us are making mistakes with the passwords we use for our different accounts.

Password manager company Bitwarden found that a quarter of people use the same password for at least 11 sites or apps. And more than one-third of us use personal information in our passwords.

Personal information isn't a good idea to use, because it's quite easy for others to find it out.

But here's something else that isn't a good idea: using the name of your favorite celebrity, band, singer or superhero!

A company called Mailsuite has been looking at the most dangerous pop culture passwords you can use online.

Mailsuite made a list of more than 2,600 pop culture terms and almost 64,000 different ways of writing them.

It then looked at something called the Pwned Passwords database, which gives information about hundreds of millions of passwords that have been exposed in online data breaches.

The pop culture password that came up most was "Superman." It appeared in almost 585,000 data breaches.

In second place was the US band Blink-182. Used as a password, it appeared in more than 482,000 data breaches.

"Batman," "Star Wars" and "Eminem" were also in the top five.

Bitwarden says you should choose a long password that includes letters, numbers and symbols.

You should also have a different password for each app you use. Sites like Bitwarden also let you check how strong a password is before you choose it.

今回も和食について、話します。



日本は周りを全て海に囲まれています。
珍しい国ですね。
山も多いですね。日本の土地の何%が山か知っていますか？
じつは、75％が山、なんだそうです。めちゃ多いですよね！

日本は古来から、豊かな自然に囲まれ、海や山から、たくさんの恵みを受けてきていますね。そんなありがたい食材を無駄なく使うことが多いのも和食の特徴かもしれません。

今日はそんな和食のいろんな側面について、はなしますね。


■和食の精神性
ー自然が大きな存在であり、時によっては、恐れられるものでもありました。人々は、自然そのものに神を感じました。そして、狩猟や稲作での豊作の感謝や祈りが生まれ、それは祭りとなりました。食を通して、自然への精神性を持ち続けています。

■和食の社会性
ー日本以外でもそうだと思いますが、日本では祝い事や祭り、行事など。自然の恵みをみんなで一緒に食べることで、社会性を築いてきました。打ち上げなどの文化は今も続いています。


■和食の地域性
ー縦長な日本は気候や地理が地域で変わります。
北海道から沖縄まで、それぞれの場所で作られてきた物を使い、特徴的な料理を作ってきました。地域によって本当にさまざまで、日本のおもしろさの1つですね。

僕が今まで住んでいた地域では、
大阪、岡山、鳥取、北海道です。
大阪は、お好み焼きですね。
ーだしで溶いた小麦粉の生地に、細かく切ったキャベツや肉、イカなどを入れ、鉄板で平たく両面を焼いたものですね。僕も奥さんも大阪の出身なので、家でもよくお好み焼きをします。同じような粉もんなら、広島焼きとか、たこ焼きも作りますね。粉もんについては、以前のPodcast#92で話していますので、よかったら聞いてみてください。

岡山は、デミカツ丼ですね。
ー揚げたてのとんかつに、熱々のデミグラスソースをかけた岡山のご当地どんぶり「おかやまデミカツ丼」ですね。たぶん、岡山の人はあまり食べないと思います。僕は大阪からはじめての他の都道府県が岡山県だったので、良く食べました。たぶん、家を探しに行った時に食べたのも、デミカツ丼だったと思います。

鳥取は、僕にとっては、海鮮丼ですかね。
ー日本海に面しているので、良く海鮮丼を食べていました。
境港という、場所があります。ここでは海鮮丼が食べられます。僕はアジとイカの丼が好きでよく食べていましたが、たぶん普通人気なのはカニだと思います。


北海道は、ちゃんちゃん焼きですね。
ー地元の人がどれぐらい食べるかはわからないですが、鮭を買って、レシピを調べて作ったりしています。サケ、キャベツ、たまねぎ、人参、ピーマン、もやし、味噌などを入れ、蒸し焼きにします。作るのは簡単なので、時々作ります。


日本には、その地域の料理を郷土料理と言います。
ですが、農林水産省が定義している郷土料理は今のところ百選とされています。基準があり、それを満たしている料理が選定しているようです。

もちろんそれ以外にも地域ごとでおいしい食べ物はたくさんあります！

みなさんも、もし日本に来たらその地域の料理、郷土料理を食べてみてくださいね！地理的、歴史的な理由でその料理が郷土料理になっているので、調べてみるとおもしろいですよ！
