*Please feel free to comment if my English is not correct or there are more natural expressions. In Japan there are some traditions welcoming baby and pray for their healthy growing during one year after birth. Firstly after birth around one month, parents go to shrine or temple near their home to tell God the birth and pray that the baby can grow healthy. It’s called ‘Omiya Mairi’. The baby wears a Sunday Best at that day. Then, 100 days after the birth, parents prepare the meal with traditional Japanese style for the baby, which means the wish that he/she won’t be worried about getting hungry in the future. It is ‘Okuizome’. However since the baby cannot eat anything yet, it is just as a formality. Finally a year after, one year birthday, interesting tradition ‘Tanjo Mochi (Birth Ricecake)’will wait for the baby. He/She makes Big Ricecake on their back. It means parents’ wish of growing strongly. These are the big events but please not there are some differences depending on the areas.

Have you ever heard Gen Zs who were born roughly between 1997 and 2012? Some of them have been adults. Different from people who were born before them, they grew up with technologies, such as high-speed internet and smartphones. As a result, most of them are more likely to do everything online instead of in person. They get information from social media which also changes their ways of making friends. Just shaking your phone, the people who shaking their phones at the same time will be show on the screen. It sounds fun, and you can choose one of them to be your friend. You can also seek for the people who live nearby and send a request to them for making friend with them. Though it looks like more and more people making friends online, in fact, just more and more Gen Zs have grown up. Recently, I have heard another new word, Gen Alpha. Though all of them are still children, I am afarid of saying more about what they will be as adults. If friends are still necessary for them many years later?or friends have been replaced by robots.
