おはようございます。日本語だんだんポットキャストのゆかりです。

今日は、"おてあらい"と“トイレ"についてです。

みなさん、トイレはきいたことがあると思います。

「すみません、トイレはありますか？」

「トイレはどこですか？」

といいます。

トイレのべつの言い方で、

"御手洗(おてあらい)"があります。

おてあらいも、トイレも、同じいみです。

おてあらいは、漢字では、
手を洗(あら)う、とかきます。

手を洗うことができる場所(ばしょ)

つまり、トイレのことですね。

私はよく、お店では、トイレよりおてあらいといいます。

お店の人に、
「おてあらいは、どこですか？」

「あちらですよ。」

「ありがとうございます。」

と言います。

私はとくに、ご飯を食べる場所(ばしょ)で、おてあらいといいます。
レストランやカフェですね。

なぜかというと・・

ご飯を食べている、ほかの人がいるので、
"トイレ"と言いたくないからです。

手を洗う場所、のいみの方が、
聞こえてもいいような気がします。

なので、ともだちの家に行くと、

「あ、ちょっとトイレかりてもいい？」

といいます。

日本で"おてあらい"、ぜひつかってみて下さいね。
