In this episode we are going to learn 【Appearance】in Chinese.

As a beginner, there're some vocabularies that you didn't learn before, and native speaker's speed seems too fast to understand. But don't worry, let's do it step by step. 
1st time: listen and catch the words you know already, have a guess about the content.
2nd time: look at the text to check if you guessed it right. 
3rd time: listen one more time, repeat after it.
4th time: practice until you can speak as the normal speed without looking at the text.

她很漂亮，不高不矮。
tā hěn piào liàng ， bù gāo bù ǎi 。
She is beautiful, not too tall, not too short.
她很苗条，皮肤很白。
tā hěn miáo tiáo ， pí fū hěn bái 。
She is slim and has fair skin.
她有一头黑色的长发。
tā yǒu yì tóu hēi sè de cháng fà 。
She has black long hair.
她的脸很小，眼睛很大。
tā de liǎn hěn xiǎo ， yǎn jīng hěn dà 。
Her face is small and her eyes are big.
她的哥哥又高又帅。
tā de gē ge yòu gāo yòu shuài 。
Her brother is tall and handsome.
他喜欢运动，不胖不瘦。

He likes sports and is not fat or thin.
他有一头棕色的卷发。
tā yǒu yì tóu zōng sè de juǎn fà 。
He has brown curly hair.
他的鼻子很高，嘴巴很大。
tā de bí zi hěn gāo ， zuǐ bā hěn dà 。
He has a high nose and a big mouth.
他们长得很像爸爸和妈妈。
tā men zhǎng de hěn xiàng bà ba hé mā ma 。
They look a lot like dad and mom.

外貌 Appearance （Beginner）

Following a verb, both 一下 ((yí xià, lit. “once”) and(一)点儿 ({yì} diǎnr “a bit”) can soften the tone in a question or an imperative sentence, therefore making it more polite. When used in this way, 一下(yí xià) modifies the verb, while(一)点儿 ({yì} diǎnr) modifies the object.

For example:
nǐ kàn yí xià ， zhè shì shuí de zhào piàn ？ 
你看一下，这是谁的照片？   Take a look. Whose photo is this?

nǐ xiǎnɡ chī diǎnr shén me ？ 
你想吃点儿什么？       What would you like to eat?

nǐ jìn lái yí xià 。 
你进来一下。Come in for a minute.

wǒ men hē yì diǎnr chá bɑ 。 
我们喝一点儿茶吧。  Have a little tea.

qǐnɡ nǐ kāi yí xià mén 。 
请你开一下门。   Please open the door.

今天想和大家聊一聊“冷”的话题。
大家都知道冷是温度低的意思，它的反义词是热。如果今天只有8度（°C），我们可以说今天好冷啊，我要多穿几件衣服。夏天的时候，大家喜欢喝冷饮，例如冰可乐、冰啤酒、冰奶茶。还有夏天必不可少的冰淇淋。大家可能会说，冬天我们也喝冷饮吃冰淇淋啊。
这里要告诉大家一个文化小知识。在中国，大家在吃的方面比较讲究。小时候天气冷的时候，妈妈会告诉我们：“不可以吃冷的，对身体不好。”所以我们长大后也是这样的习惯。不过啊，现在年轻人越来越不在乎这些了， 他们想什么时候吃就什么时候吃。
冷还可以表示一个人的态度。例如，他对我很冷淡，一点儿也不热情。也可以说：她总是冷冰冰的。如果两个人吵架了，互相不说话，我们可以说：他们在冷战。如果你的朋友很激动，你可以告诉他：你冷静点儿。
冷还有其他有意思的用法。例如冷门，冷门专业是指那些很少人会选择学习的专业，它的反义词是热门专业。很多年前，计算机在中国是冷门专业，过去十几年变成了热门专业。
大家听过冷笑话吗？如果你的朋友告诉你一个笑话，你觉得不好笑，那你可以说：好冷啊。冷笑话就是bad joke，lame joke。
