“As I live in a pretty small town, I haven't had the opportunity to meet many people from different countries or cultures, but I've had the pleasure of getting to know James, an English teacher from the UK. 

James hails from London, and moved here about 2 years ago to work as an English tutor in one of the local high schools. I guess he’s in his mid-twenties, and being one of the few foreigners here, has become a kind of local celebrity. 

The first time I met James was at an English corner, which was held at one of the local coffee shops in town. I saw it advertised, and decided to go along, as I really needed to brush up on my English speaking skills. I remember, I was the first to arrive, and introduced myself to James, and was immediately taken aback when he started to introduce himself in the local dialect! 

We got chatting, and hit it off from the start, getting along like a house on fire. Not only did it turn out that we were both football fanatics, but also shared the same taste in music. 

We have since become the best of mates, and hang out at least once or twice a week. I really love chatting to him, and getting to learn all about English culture, as well as sharing different aspects of my own culture with him. I have great respect for James, as he has really made an effort to immerse himself into the local culture here. On top of that, getting to know him has been a real eye opener, and helped to dispel any negative cultural stereotypes.”

How to say what’s your name? in Thai

First of all, let’s learn some vocabulary

what = a-rai
Is  = kue
your = khong khun
name = chue

To translate directly from English to Thai, we will have the sentence like
“chue khong khun kue a-rai”
Well, this is not wrong , you will still get the answer from the listener.
But to speak in the same way as Thai native speakers, we don’t use that sentence. 
To ask for someone’s name, we will simply say

khun chue a-rai

literally means “You Name What”

The same thing goes  with “surname”.

Surname or last name , in Thai we say “naam sa gun”

Now , can you tell me how to ask “What’s your surname?”.
I give 3 seconds to think.  3 … 2 …. 1 
time’s up. Yes, you’re right. 
The answer is
khun naam sa gun a-rai

When you answer these questions, you can simply tell your name or surname straightaway.

Apasionado por el México antiguo y conocedor de diversas disciplinas

Alfonso Caso Andrade, arqueólogo, filósofo y abogado. Nació en la Ciudad de México en 1896, fue un destacado intelectual y realizó importantes descubrimientos arqueológicos.

Fue el rector número 28 de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México y se desempeñó como jefe del Departamento de Arqueología del Museo Nacional; años después, se convirtió en el Director del Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH).

Obtuvo numerosos premios y reconocimientos por su labor, entre los que destaca el Premio Nacional de Ciencias.

Entre sus grandes descubrimientos sobresalen la ciudad prehispánica de Monte Albán y Monte Negro. Gracias a esto, publicó una gran cantidad de libros, artículos, así como conferencias y literatura popular.

Una de sus aportaciones más importantes fue el desciframiento del sistema de escritura de las culturas prehispánicas de Oaxaca.

Caso también fundó aquellas instituciones que aseguraban la protección del patrimonio arqueológico de los mexicanos, como el INAH y el Museo Nacional de Antropología. Asimismo, fundó el Instituto Nacional Indigenista, organismo en el que pasó los últimos años de su vida.
