Time Words and Frequency: Eppozhum, Chilappol, Orikkalum | Spoken Malayalam #121
描述
English "never" carries the negative inside it: I never drink coffee. So learners say ഞാൻ ഒരിക്കലും കാപ്പി കുടിക്കുന്നു (njaan orikkalum kaappi kudikkunnu), which sounds like "I ever drink coffee". In Malayalam, orikkalum only means "ever, even once", and the verb itself must say no: ഞാൻ ഒരിക്കലും കാപ്പി കുടിക്കില്ല (njaan orikkalum kaappi kudikkilla) = I never drink coffee.
In this episode:
• Always, usually, sometimes
• Never: orikkalum plus a negative
• How many times
• Again, still and yet
• Soon, now, early and late
• An invented scene: the late bus
• Language bridge
• Practice
• Self-check questions with answers
