今日は「土用の丑の日」です。 日本では、この日に「うなぎ」を食べる習慣があります。実は、この習慣は江戸時代に始まりました。ある人が、夏に売れないうなぎを売るためにPRしたのが始まりだと言われています。 うなぎにはたくさん栄養がありますから、暑い夏にぴったりですね。みなさんは、うなぎが好きですか?

今日（きょう）は「土用（どよう）の丑（うし）の日（ひ）」です。 日本（にほん）では、この日（ひ）に「うなぎ」を食（た）べる習慣（しゅうかん）があります。実（じつ）は、この習慣（しゅうかん）は江戸時代（えどじだい）に始（はじ）まりました。ある人（ひと）が、夏（なつ）に売（う）れないうなぎを売（う）るためにPR（ピーアール）したのが始（はじ）まりだと言（い）われています。 うなぎにはたくさん栄養（えいよう）がありますから、暑（あつ）い夏（なつ）にぴったりですね。みなさんは、うなぎが好（す）きですか？

【English】 
Today is "Doyo no Ushi no Hi" (the Midsummer Day of the Ox). In Japan, there is a custom of eating "Unagi" (eel) on this day. Actually, this custom began in the Edo period. It is said that it started when someone did some PR to help sell eel, which wasn't popular in the summer back then. Eel is very nutritious, so it's perfect for the hot summer. Do you like eel?

【Vocabulary】
土用の丑の日（どようのうしのひ）：Midsummer Day of the Ox
うなぎ：eel
習慣（しゅうかん）：custom
江戸時代（えどじだい）：Edo period
売る（うる）：to sell
栄養（えいよう）：nutrition
ぴったり：perfect fit / just righ

【Grammar Notes】 
🔶 Verb (Dictionary Form) + ために (In order to / For the sake of) 
Example: 
うなぎを売（う）るために、PRしました。 They did PR in order to sell eel.
日本（にほん）へ行（い）くために、日本語（にほんご）を勉強（べんきょう）しています。 I am studying Japanese in order to go to Japan.

🔶 ～と言（い）われている (It is said that...) Used to introduce a commonly known story, legend, or socially accepted fact (conversation history).
Example: 
PRしたのが始まりだと言（い）われています。 It is said that the PR was how it started.
日本（にほん）の食事（しょくじ）は体にいいと言（い）われています。 It is said that Japanese food is good for the body.

🔶 Sentence + から (Because / Since) 
Example : 
栄養（えいよう）がありますから、夏（なつ）にぴったりです。 Since it is nutritious, it's perfect for summer.
今日（きょう）は休み（やすみ）ですから、ゆっくりします。 Since today is a holiday, I will relax.å

海沿いをさんぽして、アイスを売(う)っているのを見つけました。

ちょっと寒(さむ)かったけど、
アイスを買って、食べました。

なかなか、おいしいアイスだったので、また買おうと思います。

それから、飛行機(ひこうき)をすごく、近くで見ました。

空港(くうこう)があるので、飛行機は低(ひく)く飛びます。

めっちゃ、迫力(はくりょく)があって、よかったです。

いいところを見つけたと思います。

明日は雨なので、さんぽできるかわかりません。
