Written Exercise 276 - SUMMER HOMEWORK STOLEN, A BOY'S HEART BROKEN A video of a boy in Yiwu, Zhejiang province went viral. In the video, the boy said he was heart-broken because he had had his summer homework stolen, which meant he could not hand it in to his teacher in the coming school year. His teacher had assigned him the task of growing something during the school break and asked him to take it back to school in the new semester. The boy cultivated one or two watermelon seedlings in a flower bed in front of his parents’ restaurant, under their guidance. He watered the seedlings every day and fertilized them from time to time. He was happy that the plants had grown to be small watermelons and had been getting bigger little by little under his care. Unfortunately, the growing watermelon (one or more than one?) was stolen with three days left of the summer holiday. His father did not report the theft to the police but posted the video of his son’s story about taking care of the plants, which caught the police's attention. They wanted to rebuild the boy’s trust in the world and were determined to figure out who the thief was. Finally, the police found the thief, who was a young man. He confessed that he stole the watermelon while he was driving past the restaurant. He said he saw the watermelon growing out of the flower bed and it looked cute, so he picked it. The man apologized to the boy and compensated him with a water melon. In the end, the family forgave the young man. A happy ending!

He watered them every day and fertilized them from time to time. He was happy that the plants had grown as small watermelons and had been getting bigger little by little (slowly but surely) under his care. Unfortunately, the growing watermelon was stolen three days prior to school starting. His father did not report to the police but posted the video of his son’s story about taking care of the plants, which caught the police's attention. They wanted to rebuild the boy’s trust in the world and were (good job using the correct form) determined to figure out who the thief was. Finally, the police found the thief, he was a young man. He confessed that he stole the water melon while he was driving by the restaurant. He said he saw the watermelon grow out of the flower bed and it looked cute, so he picked it. At last, the man apologized to the boy and compensated him a water melon. In the end, the family forgave the young man. A happy ending!
