Teaching Norwegian for Work & Understanding Western Norwegian Dialects I am a 35-year-old writer from Haugesund, currently based in Lørenskog close to Oslo. My interests are language teaching & learning, reading, and exploring new cultures. Besides my creative pursuits and language tutoring, I work a 9-5 job. This gives me a firsthand understanding of both the creative and the professional sides of Norwegian culture. On italki, I've mainly tutored students who either want to learn or improve their Norwegian language skills for work. My students have been medical staff, industrial workers, restaurant staff, teachers, drivers, etc. Whether you need to master office small talk, prepare for job interviews, or feel more confident during lunch conversations and presentations, I'd be happy to help you achieve your goals. I've also tutored students to get a better grasp of the many unique and different dialects of Western Norway. The majority of native Norwegian-speakers speak their own dialect in any setting and it's uncommon for us to switch to Bokmål. Being from Haugesund, I will help you de-code the regional rhythms, nuances, and dialect words, so that you will understand these dialects. My teaching style is rooted in active learning. I believe every mistake is a small win and a necessary stepping stone toward fluency. No question is too small, and whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced learner looking to polish your business Norwegian, I tailor every session to your individual pace.
