My name is Athanasios. I am a native Greek speaker, but I have also lived in the US and UK for a significant amount of time. Living back and forth between Greece and English-speaking countries has shaped a bilingual mind in me. Engaging in linguistics, chasing after etymological roots, and pondering over the definitions of words, are what fascinate me. I have an interest in Biblical Greek, Greek Philosophy, and having good explanatory communication that is insightful for the student is what I consider a skill of mine. Also, I like to bring the atmosphere of the class to a relaxed and easy feeling. Other hobbies include web designing, writing, researching, traveling, and reading. As a teacher, I find myself functioning in the role daily with people. Whether to a Greek speaker on English or vice versa, I go to deep lengths to reach the true meaning of things and convey it to people. I've also been hosting Biblical Greek studies to people for about 4 years consecutively. So I figured I would turn passion into a joy job. Listening to the student and meeting them at their level, is key. The teaching comes first; getting paid is secondary. If I see progress in a student, and especially if I see joy in their eyes, that's having fun for me. And I can only achieve this effect if I prioritize tailoring myself around the student. 1. I’ve been learning Greek with this tutor on italki, and I’m very satisfied. The lessons are well-structured, engaging, and tailored to my needs. He is the best tutor I could imagine. He really pays attention to my individual needs and adapts the lessons accordingly. What I appreciate the most is how much my speaking confidence has improved. He is patient, supportive, and explains everything clearly. We’ve never had a lesson without laughing, which makes the learning process even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to learn Greek effectively.

Sakis is an amazing tutor with an unparalleled ability to break down seemingly complex concepts and guide towards a more foundational understanding of the language. He is also able to simultaneously offer structured learning and casual conversational learning as they suite the student's needs or desires. Personally, I have found his friendly, inviting, and patient communication style to be extremely helpful in pushing through my own language barriers. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in learning Greek, regardless of their prior knowledge. :)

I have been taking lessons with Saki for sometime. I have between 3-6 lessons per week. I am a Greek American that has spent a lot of time in Greece but over the years, where everyone speaks English 👎 and has very little patience to help me learn. Saki is an amazing teacher (and person) and he helps me learn by teaching me to articulate what’s on my mind. Every lesson, he writes our dialogue to which I print and study. He has adapted the lessons to be practical and exactly what works for me. I highly recommend Athanasios, but if this review results in too many people booking lessons and messing with my schedules times, I’m deleting it 😂😂😂

I had an excellent first lesson with Athanasios. Saki is a passionate teacher who's able to masterfully adapt to the learner's level in Greek to make the lesson extra useful and enjoyable. Highly recommended!
