Juan

I've been taking classes with Juan for almost half a year now, basically starting from zero Spanish familiarity other than what I've learned in elementary school. Juan's teaching style keeps me engaged and the lessons progress in a way that make it easy to build upon past concepts. I've also appreciated when we take short detours from the lesson when Juan answers specific questions I have, sometimes giving historical and cultural context about Mexican Spanish. I can tell I'm making progress more consistently than when I've tried to learn by myself, so I'm excited to continue with Juan.

Juan is the best instructor! His lessons not only teach you the language and the grammar, but also the history of where the language derived from, helping you to connect with the Hispanic and Spanish culture even further. I've been working with Juan consistently every week for nearly 6 months now, and I have made so much progress and feel more confident. His lessons are organized, always prepared, and fun! Learning Spanish with Juan has truly been an enriching experience.

Always clear lessons with explanations of grammatical rules and possible exceptions to those rules

I have been studying with Juan for a year now, and he has greatly helped my Spanish. He’s an advocate for proper pronunciation and grammar, and always corrects you when you make mistakes. He also has a great sense of humour which makes every lesson fun and lighthearted. For me personally, this makes the learning process more enjoyable and relaxed.

I’ve taken a good bit of lessons with Juan over the years. We always have interesting conversations and it’s obvious when you talk to him he’s a highly intelligent individual. He’ll come to the class prepared with material to cover and he gives good feedback when listening to you speak.

Juan is great at identifying and providing corrections. I've worked with so many tutors in the past who have said that I didn't make any mistakes when I know that's not true, but he kept a list as we were talking and went over all of them at the end, which I appreciated very much. I also liked the fact that he let me do most of the talking and kept asking questions to facilitate that.
